Budget Inn Franklin

The Budget Inn at Franklin is owned by Ron Haven, who also owns the Budget in at Hiawassee. However the standards of accommodation are very different. While it is still a motel, it is not the same poor experience of the Hiawassee Budget Inn. Ron runs a daily shuttle calling at Rock, Wallace and Winding Stair Gaps twice a day so no need to call for a ride. He also has a daily shuttle at around 4pm which will take you around town for resupply including to his outfitters; Three Eagles. The room was clean as was the bathroom. Laundry was again coin operated and cold only. There was Wifi and a computer in the reception area. Ron is a great guy......if for nothing else you need to just listen to him. He appears to own most of Franklin, he's a council representative, former pro-wrestle (yes with mask and all) and supporter of the trail! For me meeting Ron and listening to his stories was worth a stay at the Budget Inn. There are no meals supplied by places within walking distance to get something. A local church offered free breakfast once a week and would collect you in the morning. Budget Inn website

Worth a Stay

Reasonable price for a motel. If nothing else stay to meet Ron Haven, the owner, he's a character that had me laughing.
