The Doyle Hotel

Its The Doyle Hotel in Duncannon.......that should be all that's needed to say! Yes its rough, in poor state of repair, old, and not somewhere you may choose to stay unless your hiking the AT. BUT its The Doyle! We stayed a night just because its was The Doyle and a trail tradition. The bar serves a varied and tasty menu and of course beer, a welcome stop at the end of a days hiking. The accommodation was an experience, rooms are very basic being just a bed and a light. No air-con or TV, coffee maker in this place. The showers are basic and on the floor we stayed on you could see through the bathroom floor to the bathroom below. It was full of thru-hikers and trail family so the stay was more about the trail experience and banter. Across the road is a cafe which is home of the pancake challenge and there is an ice cream shop a few blocks away. The BBQ restaurant in town was really good and worth a visit. Trail Mary is in town for shuttles if needed, laundromat is less than a block away.
