Worth stopping by!
A rural campsite but very hiker friendly and supportive of hiking community.
This is not a hostel, its a camp area close to Laurel Gap, but worth including here. The only way we knew of its existence was through hiker talk and a sign on a tree about three mile from the gap. You cannot get cell service in the gap so need to call “TruBrit” ahead of arrival. He will then collect you and take you to Fort Bastion. Fort Bastion is a large wooded area in a rural location. There were no rooms as the area was still being developed but it was a neat place to tent. There was $7 donation and that covered shuttle to and from trail, stay, breakfast. There was no shower/laundry facilities (there is a creek to wash if needed). At night we could gather around the campfire and join the other hikers staying (of which there was a lot). There is a free shuttle into town for resupply and beer which can be consumed on property. TruBrit also offers slack pack options which we utilized. There is a local pizza delivery service which will deliver to Fort Bastion. TruBrit was developing the site and I can see this becoming a place to stay for sure, we was there early in its opening so still basic.
