Hiker Hostel Dahlonega

The Hiker Hostel was our first experience of trail hostels and a great starting point. We arrived in the afternoon having been collected from a rental car return location in a nearby town. The hostel is very modern and set in a quite location away from Dahlonega. We stayed in the main house although since our visit the hostel has add container rooms for guests to utilized away from the house. We had a private room which suited us great, it had an en-suite bathroom including a shower with soap/shampoo and towel. bedding was supplied and the beds were comfortable. Dinner was not provided but fortunately we had purchased a Subway earlier, however some guest were not aware there was no evening meal and had to make do with trail food. There was no evening shuttle for resupply/town run. However breakfast is available in the morning and despite the excitement of starting our thru-hike we ate plenty. There was a computer available for guest use and wifi which was reliable and fast. A large screen TV was in the living room which was a shared area. Although we didn't use it laundry facilities were available. There were two shuttles in the morning, one to Amicola and one to Springer, we went to Springer to start our hike. I was a little concerned as the van was overloaded with gear and full of people, so much so one person had to sit on the floor. Hiker Hostel Website
