Terrapin Station Hostel
Great little hostel and a break after Shenandoah NP.
Coming out of Shenandoah NP this is the first hostel available to thru-hikers. It is an easy .5 mile hike from the AT to the house. The hostel is the basement of a house which has been converted to suit hiker needs. There is a bunk room, with power sockets by each bunk (great idea), a living room with TV, shower/bathroom and small oven. A couple of fridge freezers with soda/pizza and ice cream. Shuttles are provided for slack packing and town runs for eateries/resupply. We did a 23 mile slack pack from here which Mike offered from free to staying guests. I have seen the hostel advertised for sale recently (August 2014) so unsure of its fate. Mike the owner is a thru-hiker so understands hikers and their needs so I hope someone as interested buys the place.
